Fintry Community Garden Helpers

Volunteers can be involved with gardening tasks, designing new areas of garden development, planning and running events. We are always keen to build on volunteer’s interests, skills and experience and therefore encourage suggestions and ideas and volunteers from all walks of life.

DIGGING OUT BEDS AND PONDS

To add some additional visual appeal we'll be digging out some beds in our wall path leading to the castle. We'll also be building a naturalistic pond in our centre garden.

MINI-REFORESTING!

To add some structure and shelter to our garden we're planting some young trees and shrubs to our front and back garden

Gardening for Wildlife-Bees, Slugs and Frogs

Join us in the garden for an in-depth prowl around the bug life we commonly come across in the garden.  Learn a little more about their life cycles, what role they play in the Big wild Garden and how to encourage them.  They all have a really important role to play.  It's a fun, free, informal workshop.  All welcome. 

Digital Gardener at Ninewells

Open to all Gardening

The last Thursday of every month we hold open to all garden days where everyone (16+) is welcome to come and help us out building features for Dudhope Gardens. This involves; building large musical instruments, raised planters, and sculptures; planting trees, fruit bushes and wildflower seeds; maintaining our existing features and keeping log of the wildlife that visits our garden.

Garden volunteering at Dawson Park Community Garden

Volunteer for a morning session, an afternoon session, or for the whole day! We garden for our mental health and are supported by Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH). Drop in for a chat about volunteering and together we can imagine how to use your unique skills to contribute to our wildlife friendly space. 

Garden signmaking workshop

Join Manuela to learn about and make different types of signs and labels. She will cover some basics on how to engage with visitors to your garden and connect them with nature and stories from wildlife and food. You will also be able to test your hand at making one for your garden and/or designing a thematic trail for your own garden.

"Six Inches of Soil" Movie Screening

We are delighted to host our first moving screening! We will watch “Six Inches of Soil”, documentary highlighting the work farmers, communities and individuals who wants to act for a better tomorrow.  We will share homemade food and exchange ideas with a few experienced professionals.

WILD WOMEN THAT GROW - community workshops with plants, food & art

Join us for a beautiful morning of community workshops bringing together women, music, plants, art and food. A family friendly morning in the Hilltown park and the Maxwell centre . Learn about the new Edible Trail in the Hilltown Park and get your own copy of the "Wild Women that Grow" zine, meet 30+ Wild Women that grow and enjoy some locally produced, home- baked delicacies!

Plant sale with Duntrune Community Garden and Scottish Wildlife Trust

Ardler Community Garden Open Day

Please come along and see our little community garden in the heart  of Ardler.  We are nestled between the Ardler Complex and the NHS building,  just up from the Macmillan Cafe. We will have seedlings for sale, and the opportunity to plant your own seeds using our fantastic Discovery compost. Come and meet some of our friendly volunteers and find out what we're all about and volunteer opportunities.

Nilupul Allotment Volunteer

We are currently not looking for gardening volunteers because the allotment is being looked after by one of our team at the moment.  Thank you.

As a volunteer with the Ardler Community Garden you can help with weeding beds, planting new plants and harvesting produce both for the gardens and for sharing with the local Macmillan cafe. More experienced gardeners share their knowledge with the rest of the group who are keen to learn.

Dudhope Gardens Gardening

We are building Dudhope Castle Gardens to make a welcoming space for humans and wildlife. We want this space to be a place for people to build their awareness of and connection with their local environment.

Pollinators and climate friendly gardening

Biodiversity Surveying at Douglas Wee Forest

Winter and Spring work parties at Victoria Gardens

We are meeting in the garden and tackling many jobs! From pruning to working on our mixed orchard, you can join in whether you have got lots of gardening skills or simply a willingness to get stuck in and learn. We'll also have time for a cup of tea, a sweet treat, and a wee chatter in the community pantry. Everyone is welcome! Hope to see you there!

Design Your Garden Apron Workshop
